Meet the Designer
Hi, I’m Abigail.
My love for interior design began at a young age, spending weekends antiquing with my mother along the coast of Lake Michigan and endlessly rearranging and repainting my bedroom. That passion led me to Purdue University, where I studied Interior Design and turned a lifelong obsession into a career.
With over 25 years of experience in residential interiors, I’ve had the privilege of working in Indianapolis, Chicago, and Detroit before returning home to Southwest Michigan and the South Shore of Lake Michigan. Through it all, I’ve discovered my superpower: bringing out each client’s personality in their interior spaces. Your home should reflect who you are, your story, your style, your life.
My approach is collaborative and personal. Every project begins with a conversation, not a catalog. I work closely with each client to understand their vision, then bring it to life with beautiful, colorful, and cohesive interiors. Comfort and functionality are always at the heart of the design, because a room should feel as good as it looks.
The Space
The AHID Studio
Our studio is located at 607 Franklin Street in Michigan City’s Historic Uptown Arts District, in a beautifully restored gallery space with exposed brick, natural light, and endless inspiration. It’s where ideas come to life, materials are curated, and clients become friends.
We have worked with Abigail Hayden Interior Design on both my home and office. We have found her to be very responsive and are thrilled with the work she has done in both places. She is professional, easy to deal with, and talented. I look forward to working with her again.
